She’s still out in front!

Point Tally, Results, Challenges, Riddles, Games, Fun Things 11 Comments »

Mikhaila is still out in front with another 3 points! Momtahina got another 2 points as well! Nadine also got it right and she is getting 3 points! I know I said that 1st person correct gets 3 points, but that was because the other could copy. Nadine couldn’t copy because Mikhaila’s answer wasn’t moderated! I’ll also give Kesaia half a point for getting the grammatically correct answer!

This is the tally for the results so far:

Mikhaila: 5

Kesaia: half

Nadine: 3

Momtahina: 3

The riddle was:

Which is correct?

  1. The yolk of an egg is white
  2. The yolk of an egg are white

The answer was simply:

The yolk of an egg isn’t white

Here is the new riddle:

A Panda Bear walked into a restaurant. He sat down at a table and ordered some food. When he was finished eating, he took out a gun and shot his waiter. He then left the restaurant. After the police caught up with him, they asked him why he had killed the waiter. He replied, “Look me up in the dictionary.” What did the dictionary say?

Good luck and no websites!

Riddle Me Roo!

Congrats!

Great work trying to find the last riddle!

Unfortunately no-one was right but Nat was close!

The riddle was:

A blind man has 4 tablets, two are marked “X” and two are marked “Y”. Each day he has to take one “X” tablet and 1 “Y” tablet. He drops the tablets and he needs to pick them up as it is time to take them. Without taking two of the same type of tablet or asking someone else, how does he accomplish taking one of each tablet?

The answer was:

He simply broke each tablet in half and put one half on his right, and one on his left. After he finished with all of them there ended up to be one “X” tablet and one “Y” tablet on each side. He just had to eat one side and he was done!

I will put a riddle up ASAP (as soon as possible).

Lesson#2 CHAPTERS 4-6

Summary

Trinh helped fish and steer the rickety, old boat. His grandmother found his knife and he was very excited! The water supply was low so the poor, suffering people would have a long, thirsty 2 week trip before they would reach Hong Kong. The passengers then decided on taking turns to do the jobs on board!

Lee ended up doing lookout with Quan for 4 hours! Lee would have loved to bet Quan he would stay awake, winner takes all(Quan’s radio and his pocket knife). Unfortunately Quan declined although he was fortunate when they both fell asleep!Lee woke up just in time to have a glimpse at a cargo boat. It wouldn’t have been much trouble but they were in it’s path! He just managed to turn on the engine and save the boat and it’s people. Their still heading for Hong Kong, but will their journey end early…….

Here are my questions:

  1. Why did Lee want to bet Quan his only possession?
  2. When Tam cried for her dolls, what would you do to calm her down?
  3. What would you do if you were Lee and you saw the cargo boat?

HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT!

Journey Of 1000 Miles

Reading Circles, Writing, Fun Things 1 Comment »

We’ve started reading circles once again and I am reading the book “Journey Of 1000 Miles” by Ian Strachan.

I have decided to write my summaries every week so you can follow the story!

Lesson#1 Chapters 1-4

Summary

Lee was awoken in the dead of the night, as a start to a mysterious journey. His family, consisting of: Kim (his younger sister), his mother, his father, Tam (his older sister) and his grandparents.

As the Nguyen family trekked through the unknown wilderness, Lee figured out that they were escaping Saigon, his lifelong home in Vietnam. The family nearly got caught but luckily it seemed that the family’s journey wasn’t quite over yet.

Finally they arrived at the dock with a boat that would be their only escape from the country that was Lee’s childhood home. While journeying on the boat, the boat was nearly caught but the boat drifted on into the distance…

Here are some questions I wrote about the first few chapters:

  1. What would happen if one member of the family made noise and an officer found them?
  2. If you woke up in the middle of the night, would you have realised what was going on and why?
  3. How would you feel if the boat was leaving and you were still waste deep in water? Why?

Hope you like the book and stay tuned for the rest of the book!
