Jollybops, Jollybops, oh jolly Jollybops!
Visitors, school events, Performances, Fun Things July 26th, 2008The Jollybops excited many students when they produced an amazing show that rocked this world. They consisted of Rusty the Robot & the Jolly Professor. They performed a science show based on Aboriginal Science, for example, they showed us how a boomerang works.
I will list the science experiments they performed!
- An experiment on how friction works. Rusty turned on a wind blower with toilet paper attached, and aimed it at the Jolly Professor.
- The Jolly Professor had a garbage bin with cling wrap on the top and a hole in the bottom, and it contained steam. When he tapped the cling wrap, the bin let out a ring of smoke! Nadine got to be a volunteer and they put a cup on her head and aimed for the cup, BANG! The smoke ring knocked off the cup!
- They put dry ice in a container and put the lid on the container, only to see the lid fly off and onto the ceiling. I hope the ceiling wasn’t cracked because we did the experiment quite a few times!
- There was also one where the Jolly Professor chose 2 volunteers, one of which was Momtahina, and they held a metal stick up to a balloon and as they hit the balloon, not only did the balloon pop but it also caught fire. Which means as it popped instead of an explosion of air, it was an explosion of fire!
- One time the Jolly Professor held a piece of paper, lit fire to it, and as he let go the fire burnt the paper causing it to disappear!
- They also explained how boomerangs work and let a few people have a go at throwing and indoor boomerang!
I enjoyed the show thoroughly and hope that they come again soon!
I also found a link to a Jollybops site, have FUN!
