The past 2 weeks ( 7 and 8 ) have been district athletics days. Our district is Wiley Park, this means that we have to compete against all the other schools in Wiley Park.

We went quite well winning outright    :!:   

This sounds quite simple but we are a small school, the bigger the school the more chance of having good runners.

Here are all the students tha made it and what they made it in:

• Hafiz Gami - 11 years boys: 100 metres, 200 metres, 800 metres, long jump, high jump, shotput and discus
• Jovan Tauitai - Junior boys: discus and shotput
• Daniel Gouvas - 8 years boys: 100 metres
• Carly Gouvas - Junior girls: 800 metres
• George Sisifa - Senior boys: discus
• Teraiki Puri - Junior boys: long jump
• Joe Lovadoa - 9 years boys: 100 metres
• Senior boys relay team:

 At school, our class is doing reading circles. Everyone gets to choose a book and we read a few chapters and we write a summary, vocabulary (choose difficult words and find what they mean in the dictionary) and we make open ended questions about what we read.  

Our reading group is working on the book ‘Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing’ by Judy Blume. The best discussed question was by Momahina. The question was:

When it was “Fudge’s” birthday were Sam, Jenny an Ralph his only friends?

• I thought that he had more friends but it would be to much to handle lots of toddlers.
• Momtahina thought that he had more friends but they lived far away.
• Sharon thought that they were his only friends becuase that he didn’t go to school yet, so he might not have mixed with different kids.
• Nadine thought that they were his only friends because he might have in vited all his friends but they were the only ones that turned up therefore the others didn’t want to go.

Our class had to choose a time, person or event in history and make a MissionMaker game based on the subject we chose. We are up to thinking of what our games will be about and what you will have to do. This is what I have done so far: 

Setting = Mt Olympus

Characters = you are a normal person

Objective = Collect an artefact for each Greek god and put them in a magical box 

You must save the 12 Greek gods from Hades (the god of the underworld) taking over the upper world.  You will have to collect: 

• a book for Athena (god of wisdom, power and knowledge)

•  a bow and arrow for Artemis

• a trident or shell  for Poseidon (god of the sea)

• a rose for Aphrodite(god of love and beauty)

• a musical instrument for Apollo(god of music)

• a letter for Hermes(the god’s messenger)

• a gun for Ares(god of blood, death and war)

• a key of lock for Hephaestus

• a feather for Hera(god of keeping families together and protection of pregnant women)

• a lighting strike for Zeus (the leader of all the gods and the god of thunder).
